There are many creative ideas and designs for solving complex technology problems. What is needed are practical solutions that are cost effective to manufacture. Innovative Micro Design (IMD) has the expertise and experience required to design, analyze, prototype, characterize, test, and release to manufacturing the most advanced microfabricated solutions.

Using in-depth knowledge of available microfabrication technology including precision machining, micro molding, photochemical etching, plating, electrodeposition, and LIGA [maybe link?] related processes, a “closed loop” development process can be achieved. After a thorough understanding and definition of the requirements, a design is developed and simulated using advanced finite element analysis (FEA) techniques. IMD uses its expertise to optimize the design early to obtain the maximum benefit from the selected microfabrication methods, saving time and expense.

Most materials behave differently on the micro-scale, therefore it is essential to characterize both on the scale of the design and in the designed configuration. Unique to IMD is the ability to design and develop specialized methods and equipment to fully characterize the materials and design within the variations that occur in manufacturing. Analyzing this characterization data enables further optimization of the design – providing the closed loop – to ensure that manufacturing produces the highest quality parts at the highest possible yield.
